The Surf Lifesaving Sydney RockFishSafe App allows individuals rock fishing the ability log their start time and return time. If they fail to check out or make an emergency call their emergency contact will be sent a text message containing their last known position, which can be relayed to emergency services. The App is designed to work only between South Head in Sydney harbour to Burning Palms in the royal national park.
Features:
Check-in & Checkout
Users can check-in to begin a fishing session, and check-out when they have finished fishing. When they check-in they indicate their location, intended duration of session, number of companions and their emergency contact.
Text Messages to Emergency Contact
Text messages are sent to the nominated contact at the start of the fishing session, at the end of it and if the user makes any changes to their location or duration. Messages include the fishermans latitude and longitude as well.
Notifications
The user receives notifications if they leave the geofence area of their nominated fishing location, or if they do not check-out when their session ends.
